Student Scholarships

Thanks to a generous donation made by the William K. Laidlaw Jr. Memorial Endowment Fund, we are delighted to offer scholarships to cover the regional competition registration cost ($10.00) for a number of students.

To be considered for this scholarship, please complete the application form located here: Region 8 Scholarship Application. The deadline for submission is Friday, February 5. Please note, any late submissions will not be accepted. Students will be notified of their application status by February 19.

Due to concerns from the National History Day staff, student interviews will no longer be offered for any of the 2021 Ohio History Day contests. We understand that this may be a disappointment for many students, judges and educators – we were saddened by this news, too. However, the equity of access to technology for students and judges, as well as privacy and protection laws surrounding students and student data, means we must refrain from conducting virtual interviews. If you have questions, please email historyday@ohiohistory.org.

If you have any questions please contact Megan Parker at mparker@cincymuseum.org

Welcome Ohio Region 8 Judges!

Please see the "General" tab for most current contest information.

We're so glad you've decided to participate in History Day this year. A few things to keep in mind as you register.

1) Region 8 Ohio History Day will be entirely virtual this year.

2) Virtual training will take place before the competition begins on 3/13/2021.

3) First round judging is from approximately 9am to 12pm. Second round judging is from approximately Noon to 3pm.

4) Details about the event (schedule, a judging assignment, etc.) will be emailed closer to the contest date.

We have a new option which is to be a roaming judge. Sometimes judges are unexpectadley unavailable the day of the event. If we are lucky enough to have "extra judges" we will assign some judges to be roaming or substitute judges. These judges will recieve their assignments the day of the contest, usually at the end of orientation after judge check-in has closed and we know who we are missing.
